Can Taiwanese documents be legalized by Apostille?
Taiwan is not a member of the Apostille Convention and does not issue Apostille stamps. Documents legalized in Taiwan need additional authentication by the embassy of the destination country before they can be used.

What types of documents can be legalized in Taiwan for use abroad?
Official documents that can be legalized in Taiwan include birth, death, marriage certificates, divorce certificates, criminal record and police certificates, company registration and tax documents, court documents, university and academic diplomas, certificates signed by registered doctors etc., documents issued by government authorities. Other documents may require prior certification by a notary or other authority.

What is document legalization in Taiwan?
Document legalization (or attestation) is a procedure which authenticates a public Taiwanese document so that it can be submitted in another country for official or legal purposes - for example, if you need to submit a Taiwanese birth certificate to the authority or embassy of another country, it will often need to be legalized.
Legalzing a document in Taiwan certifies the authenticity of the signature appearing on the document as that of an authorized public official in Taiwan and confirms the capacity of that official.
Taiwanese document legalization is a two-step process:
- First the document will need to be legalized by Taiwanese authorities.
- Then the document will need to be legalized by the embassy of the recipient country (embassy in Taiwan or non-resident embassy accredited to Taiwan).
Note that Taiwan is not issue Apostille Stamps, so Taiwanese documents cannot be legalized by Apostille.

How can I obtain a copy of a Taiwanese birth, marriage or death certificate?
Bahamas birth, death and marriage certificates can be obtained from the obtained from the Registrar General's Department
Bahamian citizens applying for death certificates or their own birth certificates or marriage certificates can apply online. A proxy can be appointed to collect the certificate from the Registrar General's Department in Nassau.
How can I legalize a Taiwanese degree certificate for submission to Taiwan?
Norwegian university degrees required for submission to the authorities of Taiwan or in support of Taiwanese visa applications are certified by a notary and legalized by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for attestation by the Taipei Mission in Sweden (Stockholm).
